Penn State Media Sales distributes a significant library of educational and research films that provide an exceptional visual learning experience for both higher education and business. As part of the Pennsylvania State University, we support its mission and vision by disseminating educational media to a diverse audience.
THE HISTORY OF PENN STATE
MEDIA SALES
Dr. C. Ray Carpenter, Associate Professor of Psychology at the Pennsylvania State College and Chairman of the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Audio Visual Aids, began the process of building Penn State’s peerless collection of titles in 1942 when he instituted the Psychological Cinema Register (PCR). This fine collection of rare films ranged in subject matter from anthropological and primate study research to psychological and medical research documentaries.
In 1997, the collection formed the core of Media Sales, part of Penn State Public Broadcasting. Since that time, the inventory has expanded to include additional product categories and local productions. The original films have been transferred to video and DVD formats, making them accessible to a new generation of faculty and students in the United States and throughout the world.
